I remember painting this piece. I worked on most of it outside during the springtime. I was inspired by old-fashioned cars and wanted to do a painting that included one, and from that idea, it grew into this very whimsical image. The title, "Lazy Sunday Driving" is a joke, partly inspired by the Beatles song, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."
